Ground Taco Meat (Paleo, Keto, Whole30)

This is the best ground taco meat you'll ever make. The meat is super juicy and flavorful. It also will not dry out when you reheat it.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp avocado oil
  • ½ onion finely diced
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tbsp taco seasoning
  • 1 lb ground beef or any ground protein
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • ¼ cup beef broth
  • kosher salt
  • ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat skillet over medium heat with avocado oil.

  2. Add in the onions and garlic. Cook until onions become translucent and fragrant.

  3. Next add in the taco seasoning, mix with onions and garlic, and cook for about 30 seconds.

  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet, break the meat apart and mix with onions, garlic, and taco seasoning.

  5. When the ground beef is almost cooked through add in the tomato paste and stir in the beef broth.

  6. Mix until you can no longer see the tomato paste. Then lower the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes or until liquid has reduced.

  7. If not serving right away, place ground taco meat in a container, let it cool to room temperature and then refrigerate or freeze.
